  1. All Associate Therapists are in network with Aetna, Cigna, Northwell Direct, United Healthcare Student Resources. We are in the process of credentialing with Medicare. Additionally, in NC we are credentialing with Medicaid, BCBS, and Tricare in addition to the insurers mentioned above. Please reach out to our admin team for a current list of in network providers.
  2. We are out of network with other insurance. This means that your insurance company will reimburse you directly after you’ve met your deductible. We are able to work with your out-of-network benefits for most major insurance companies. Many of our patients carriers reimburse up-to 80%, so the cost is comparable to in network care once the deductible is met. In most situations, we are able to provide courtesy billing for you, so you don’t have to worry about filing claims yourself.
  3. If you have questions about using your out of network benefits, feel free to contact us.
Each full-time provider at the practice maintains a certain number of reduced rate slots for those who need them. You can always reach out and ask us if there is any availability!
Our part time Advanced Clinical Residents maintain rates for services that can fit many budgets. You can also inquire about services with one of them.
All of our therapists provide culturally affirming therapy. Regardless of their personal background, every therapist at the practice engages in ongoing training and supervision to provide the highest quality of care. At Kind Mind Psych, we provide care with an affirming, intersectional, inclusive, and anti-oppressive lens.
Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, it will vary depending on the individual. However, the process typically begins with an evaluation of your needs. By the end of our first meeting, we will offer some initial impressions of what our work should include and a treatment plan to follow. Most patients start off with weekly 45-minute sessions, but the frequency and duration of sessions can be altered based on mutual agreement.
Confidentiality is one of the most important elements between the patient and therapist. Successful therapy requires a high degree of trust as many are discussing highly sensitive subject matter throughout the course of treatment. In most  situations your therapist can’t share information about you unless you were to sign a release of information. However, state law and professional ethics require therapists to break confidentiality in the following situations:
  • Suspected past or present abuse of children, adults, and elders to the authorities, including child protection and law enforcement, based on the information provided by the patient and collateral sources.
  • If the therapist has reason to suspect the patient is a seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person.

We require a 48-hour cancellation and reschedule policy for all individual and group appointments. Less than 48 hours notice will result in paying the full fee for that scheduled visit. You are given text and/or email reminders 48 hours in advance for all appointments.

We provide in person and virtual sessions in NC. In all other locations we are virtual only.

We are proud to offer low-cost therapy through our resident program. Our Advanced Clinical Residents (ACRs) are both Master’s and Doctoral (those who already have a master’s) student’s completing their graduate programs. ACRs are carefully selected based on their life experiences and professional training to ensure the highest quality treatment to our patients. All of our residents are trained in the same evidenced based practices as any other therapist at Kind Mind Psych. You can also know that all of them are culturally competent with a focus on your intersectional identities and provide holistic care! We have this program because we are dedicated to helping as many people as we can regardless of income.
